Assignment 7: Landscape

In this assignment I took photos of landscape. My pictures were taken out at my grandparents house. They live on a lake. I used the trees to frame the lake and the land around it.

I learned how to use the elements that were natural resources to make a good photo, for example, the trees for framing, the sun for lighting, and the beach as a focal point.

Gimp Assignment 8: Puns

This assignment we had to come up with "puns". Once we found 3 puns, we had to demonstrate them using pictures, making a "visual pun"

 This Gimp assignment was difficult for me, because I could not think of puns to do and that I could put into a picture.

Gimp Assignment 7: Dictionary

In this assignment we had to find some words and define them. After we defined them, we put up pictures to represent that word or that went with that word.

I liked this assignment a lot, because I got to use words that I liked, and also I got to incorporate my own pictures that went with my words.

Assignment 6: Animal

This week's assignment, I took pictures of animals, my dogs. All I did was take pictures of them doing what they do. Laying down, playing with their toys, tricks, and eating or drinking.

I learned how to use different settings of my camera to make sure I captured what my dogs were doing. 

Assignment 5: Nature

This week I chose to do "Nature". All I did was went outside and took pictures of all the bright, full flowers. It was pretty easy to take pictures of the flowers because it's easy to set them up to make a good photo.

I learned how to really focus on a key point in pictures. You need to take your time in taking pictures of nature so you get the right focus and right blur.

Gimp Assignment 6: Portrait Demo

In this assignment we took picture of people to make portrait photos. Then we took it to gimp and made a frame around the pictures. We took pictures using natural light and using lighting used in a studio.

I learned how to make frames around pictures and filling in selected areas with different colors. There was also layers being used in this assignment.

Assignment 4: Open-Love

This weeks assignment, i chose to do an "open assignment" and I did the theme of "love". I took pictures of things that I thought represented the word love.

Gimp Assignment 5: School Context

In this assignment, we had to take a picture somewhere around the school. Once we got our photo, we took other pictures from online and put them into our first picture. We used layers and different editing tools to make it look realistic.

I learned how to use layers and how to put other pictures into a main background.

Gimp Assignment 4: Motion Demo

In this Gimp assighment, we did a motion demo. We took pictures of Mr. O'Donnell on his motor cycle as he drove by. We changed the Aperture, ISO and Shutter speed.

I then went into Gimp and changed the color levels on the picture.

Assignment 3: Black & White

In this assignment I took picture of still life and other things on the black and white setting.

I learned how to take pictures on the black and white setting. Then I edited them to make the picture really pop. I really like black and white pictures, even though it doesn't show the color detail, they still look really good.

Gimp Assignment 3: Panoramic

In this assignment we made a panoramic photo. We had to take three pictures and put them together. You had to overlap, scale, and alter the pictures to line them up so they would fit perfectly.

I learned a lot doing this assignment.  I didn't even know that you can make your own panoramic photos like that. Also working with layers and overlapping the pictures was new to me.

Assignment 2: Macro

This assignment is all about taking close up pictures to show even the littlest detail in the photo. I used a lot of toy like things to take pictures of. I did a lot of zooming and adjusting the length I was away from the object.

 I really liked doing the macro assignment, because I like how you can really see the detail in the pictures. I learned to really take my time with taking pictures to get them just right.

Gimp Assignment 2: Car Retouch

In this assignment we had to take a original picture of a car and retouch to make it look like the demo picture. Some things we had to do, were cropping, changing the color levels of the car, make the background completely black, and changing opacity of different elements on the car.

I learned a lot of new things that I can do with Gimp. I discovered many more tools to use to edit pictures with. I will use Gimp a lot more now to make my pictures look really good.

Assignment 1-Still Life

In this assignment, I chose to take pictures of still life. I just went around and found things to take pictures of that resembled still life. I used different backgrounds and lighting.

Still life was fun and easy to take pictures of. I took pictures of things that I like and that are still life products. I used different light settings and I placed things in different ways.

Gimp Assignment 1: Pop Art

Gimp is an photo editor where you can do many different things with your photos. Today we made our photo's into a pop art effect. We resized, copied and pasted, and distorted our pictures. 

I learned about Gimp and what it can do. I learned how to change and distort the colors and the sizing of the photos and to change it to different colors.
